Following a 10-0 run from the Bulldogs (13-9, 1-5) to open up the contest, the Texans battled back and went on a 9-4 run of their own to cut Clarendon's lead to 14-9 with 15:24 left in the first half. Justice Green, who finished with 19 points and went 6-for-11 from the floor, tied the game at 17 all after connecting on a 3-pointer from the right wing with 11 minutes on the scoreboard.

Jerron Love led the Texans in scoring for the second straight game as the 5-foot-10 freshman guard finished with 19 points and three assists in 31 minutes of play for the Texans. Deontae North shot 50 percent from the three-point line and knocked down all six free-throws attempted en route to a 15-point performance for South Plains.
