Lady Texans Earn Top-10 Finish at Thunderbird Open
The South Plains College women’s cross country team continued their 2025 campaign with a solid showing at the Thunderbird Open on Thursday, September 26, hosted by New Mexico Junior College. The Lady Texans placed 10th overall in a competitive field, highlighted by another strong performance from freshman Alison Guaman Tisalema.
HOBBS, N.M. — The South Plains College women's cross country team continued their 2025 campaign with a solid showing at the Thunderbird Open on Thursday, September 26, hosted by New Mexico Junior College. The Lady Texans placed 10th overall in a competitive field, highlighted by another strong performance from freshman Alison Guaman Tisalema.
Guaman Tisalema led the way for South Plains, finishing 8th overall with a time of 19:29.40. She was followed by Jennifer Lozano, who placed 24th (20:42.80), Icela Swaby in 34th (21:59.00), and Destinee Perez in 36th (22:02.30) to round out the team's top four finishers.
The Lady Texans will return to Hobbs on Friday, October 25, to compete in the NJCAA Region V Championships.
