With only two meets left before the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships, South Plains College Track and Field is not only loaded with national qualifiers but also nationally recognized, as the Texans sit ranked No. 2 in the nation and the Lady Texans No. 4.
LEVELLAND, TX - As the outdoor season enters its final stretch, the South Plains College Texans and Lady Texans continue to solidify their presence among the nation's elite. With just two opportunities remaining to post qualifying marks, both programs have positioned themselves as serious contenders on the national stage.
The Texans, currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, are powered by elite performances across multiple event groups. Carlton Siwela leads the charge with the top national mark in the 400 meters while also ranking among the top sprinters in both the 100 and 200 meters. Joshem Sylvester adds to that dominance with a No. 2 national ranking in the 400 meters.
In the middle-distance events, Yassine Bounasri holds the No. 2 spot in the 800 meters, while the distance group continues to shine. Dennis Cheruiyot ranks No. 2 in the 10,000 meters and sits inside the top 10 in both the 1500 and 5000 meters. Ylies Mihoubi also ranks among the nation's best in distance events, including top-eight marks in the 5000 and 10,000 meters.
South Plains' relay teams remain a major strength, highlighted by the 4x400 relay squad ranked No. 2 nationally and the 4x100 relay sitting sixth. In the field events, Jules Courel leads the nation in the pole vault, while Adem Boualbani ranks No. 2 in the triple jump and No. 4 in the long jump. The javelin group is equally impressive, with Titouan Dobo Bi ranked second, joined by Anthony Diaz and Rayvohn Telesford in the top six.
On the women's side, the Lady Texans have climbed to No. 4 in the national rankings, fueled by standout performances across the board. Leticia Ouaba leads the nation in the triple jump and also ranks inside the top 15 in the long jump. Suerena Alexander holds the top national mark in the javelin and is also ranked in the top 10 in the shot put.
Nour Rahou continues to be a key contributor, ranking No. 2 nationally in the 400 hurdles while also placing inside the top 10 in both the 400 meters and 800 meters. Morgane Lenoir joins her near the top of the 400 hurdles rankings at No. 4.
The Lady Texans' relay teams are also positioned for success, with the 4x400 relay ranked third and the 4x800 relay ranked fourth nationally. Depth across sprints, hurdles, distance, and field events has been a defining factor in South Plains' success this season.
With momentum building and national rankings reflecting their performance, South Plains now turns its focus to the Greyhound Open on Saturday, April 18 at Eastern New Mexico University. The meet serves as one of the final opportunities for athletes to improve their marks and solidify their place at the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships.
