#18 South Plains Texans Dominate Frank Phillips 85–66 for First Conference Win

LEVELLAND, TX — The No. 18 South Plains College Texans put on an electric performance at the Texan Dome, defeating the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen 85–66 to earn their first conference victory and move to 1–2 in WJCAC play.
South Plains set the tone immediately, exploding out of the gate with a 13–0 run in the opening three minutes. The Texans continued to control the tempo, taking a 17–2 advantage into the first media timeout with 13:55 remaining in the first half. By the five-minute mark, SPC had built a 31–18 lead, showcasing balanced scoring and defensive pressure.
The first half was a true team effort, with seven different Texans finding the scoring column. With 2:15 left before the break, Antallah Sandlin'el reached double figures in emphatic fashion, throwing down a powerful dunk off an assist from Micah Bell. Moments later, Bell drilled a deep three-pointer to extend the lead to 20. South Plains closed the half in control, leading 44–26.
The highlight reel continued in the second half. Alexandre K'Medehouto opened the period with a thunderous dunk, and the Texans led 50–35 at the first media timeout. With 10:26 remaining, Sandlin'el buried a deep three from the top of the key to push the advantage to 19.
K'Medehouto dominated the glass throughout the second half, and with six minutes to play, he capped off a strong sequence by finishing a put-back dunk off a rebound from Yohandry Ortiz. The Texans' athleticism was on full display, as the rim was under constant attack with multiple dunks throughout the night.
With three minutes remaining, Jordy Ndjomo Ndjomo, Devin Murray, and Nedim Kamberovic saw some of their first action of the season, adding to the depth and energy of the evening.
South Plains' largest lead reached 23 points with 2:26 left in the game. The Texans finished the night shooting 45.9% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range, and 67.7% from the free-throw line. Defensively, SPC forced 12 Frank Phillips turnovers, converting them into 17 points.
The Texans now turn their focus to the road, as they travel Thursday to face New Mexico Military Institute.
