#11 South Plains Texans Defeat College of Southern Nevada 90-81 in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV - The No. 11 South Plains College Texans opened play at Las Vegas with a strong 90-81 victory over the College of Southern Nevada on day one of the tournament, improving their record to 10-2 on the season.
South Plains controlled the tempo for most of the night, leading for 38 minutes and building the largest lead by either team with six minutes remaining in the first half.
The Texans showcased balanced scoring and depth, led by Jaylen Colon, who finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Antallah Sandlin'el also scored 14 points while adding 5 rebounds, and Zion Pipkin provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and 3 rebounds.
SPC shot an even 50% from the field, outpacing Southern Nevada's 43% shooting effort. The Texans were effective from long range, knocking down 12-of-33 three-point attempts (36%), and remained efficient at the free-throw line, converting 8-of-10 (80%).
South Plains dominated the glass and shared the ball well, finishing with 47 rebounds and 23 assists. The Texans also imposed their will offensively, scoring 36 points in the paint, 19 second-chance points, and 13 fast-break points.
The SPC bench proved to be a decisive advantage, pouring in 42 points, compared to just 11 from the Coyotes' reserves.
South Plains will continue tournament play tomorrow night, December 18th, at The Arena at The Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas, where they will face Salt Lake Community College.
