Lady Texans Roll Past Western Texas 68-36, Secure Region Tournament Spot

SNYDER, TX - The South Plains College Lady Texans picked up a dominant 68-36 road victory over Western Texas College on Thursday night, using a strong second and third quarter surge to take full control of the matchup.
South Plains started slowly offensively, scoring 14 points in the opening quarter, but quickly found its rhythm. The Lady Texans poured in 21 points in both the second and third quarters, building a commanding lead that reached 32 points by the end of the third period.
SPC turned in one of its most efficient shooting performances in recent games, finishing 48 percent from the field, 23 percent from three-point range, and 63 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Texans dominated the glass with a 47-21 rebounding advantage and dished out 19 assists while forcing 18 Western Texas turnovers.
South Plains converted those takeaways into 26 points and added 13 second-chance points. The Lady Texans controlled the paint with 40 points inside, added eight fast-break points, and received 15 points from the bench in a balanced offensive effort.
Isabel Joao continued her strong stretch of play, recording another double-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Angelina Joao added 14 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals, while Dilangue Cruz chipped in eight points, two rebounds, and one assist.
With the win, South Plains improves to 20-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play. The Lady Texans currently sit fourth in the WJCAC standings and have secured a berth in the Region Tournament scheduled for March 11-14 in Odessa.
South Plains returns home Monday, March 2, to host Howard College at the Texan Dome for the final home game of the season and Sophomore Night. The Lady Texans will close out regular season conference play next Thursday on the road at Clarendon.
