#3 Lady Texans Defeat Midland College 84-78, Improve to 14-1 Overall and 2-0 in Conference
The No. 3 South Plains College Lady Texans continued their strong start to WJCAC play with an 84–78 road victory over Midland College, improving to 14–1 overall and 2–0 in conference.
MIDLAND,Tx — The No. 3 South Plains College Lady Texans continued their strong start to WJCAC play with an 84–78 road victory over Midland College, improving to 14–1 overall and 2–0 in conference.
South Plains leaned on a dominant performance from Isabel Joao, who led all scorers with 33 points, while also pulling down 13 rebounds and dishing out three assists. Joao's all-around effort set the tone as the Lady Texans answered every Midland run with poise and execution.
Signe Nordvik provided a key offensive boost with 17 points and three rebounds, while Dilangue Cruz added 12 points and three boards in another balanced scoring effort for SPC.
The Lady Texans once again controlled the paint and the glass, finishing with 38 rebounds, which led to 21 second-chance points. Defensive pressure was also a major factor, as South Plains forced 17 Midland turnovers and converted them into 21 points.
From the line, SPC shot 72.4%, while connecting on 31.4% from three-point range and 36.1% from the field. Despite the shooting percentages, the Lady Texans' ability to capitalize on extra possessions and turnovers proved to be the difference.
South Plains will return home for its first conference home game of the season on Monday, when the Lady Texans host Frank Phillips College.
