MIDLAND, TX - In a top-15 showdown, the No. 11 South Plains College Lady Texans battled past No. 13 Salt Lake Community College 74-67 on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Midland, capping off the weekend with a gritty, hard-fought victory.
Sophomore Isabel Joao delivered a dominant performance, leading the Lady Texans with 26 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist, controlling the interior on both ends of the floor. Signe Nordvik added 13 points, while Dilangue Cruz contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist in the win.
Despite the victory, the Lady Texans faced offensive challenges, shooting just 37.5% (24-of-64) from the field. Salt Lake proved more efficient at 44.8%, but South Plains made up ground in other critical areas, including at the free-throw line. SPC knocked down 68.8% (22-of-32) of their free throws, while Salt Lake struggled, converting only 8-of-14. That 14-point difference at the stripe became one of the deciding factors of the game.
South Plains also controlled the boards, out rebounding Salt Lake 38-27, turning their work on the glass into 24 second-chance points. Both teams committed 12 turnovers, but the Lady Texans were far more productive with theirs, scoring 14 points off turnovers compared to Salt Lake's 7.
Salt Lake's largest lead of the afternoon came early, 6 points with 1;28 left in the first quarter, before South Plains clawed back. The Lady Texans finally gained separation in the fourth, building their biggest lead, nine points, with 3:42 left, just in time to hold off a final push from the Bruins.
With the win, South Plains improves to 7-1 on the season and returns home for the first time since October 31. The Lady Texans will be back in action on Wednesday, November 26th, hosting Cisco College at the Texan Dome in Levelland, Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
