The South Plains College Lady Texans capped off a perfect three-game road trip in Arizona with a 60-45 victory over Mesa Community College on Saturday, completing the weekend with an undefeated record. The Lady Texans move to 4-1 on the season.
MESA, AZ- The South Plains College Lady Texans capped off a perfect three-game road trip in Arizona with a 60–45 victory over Mesa Community College on Sunday, completing the weekend with an undefeated record.
Leading the way for South Plains was Isabel Joao, who turned in a dominant performance with 17 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Off the bench, Valerie Richardson added 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal, while Daniela Gongo chipped in 10 points and 2 rebounds to help secure the win.
The Lady Texans controlled the pace throughout, forcing 18 turnovers from Mesa and converting them into 13 points. South Plains also capitalized on the offensive glass, scoring 15 second-chance points, and showcased their depth with 25 bench points on the night.
South Plains built its largest lead of the game—15 points—with 1:12 remaining in the fourth quarter and held strong defensively to close out the contest.
The Lady Texans will return to action on Friday when the go to Borger for a two game classic.
