COOLIDGE, AZ- The South Plains College Lady Texans picked up a hard-fought 72-69 road victory over Central Arizona College on Friday night, improving to 3-1 on the season.
The Lady Texans were led by Isabel Joao, who turned in a dominant double-double performance with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and 1 assist. Angelina Joao followed closely behind, recording hew own double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 1 assist.
South Plains' bench provided a key boost in the win. Daniela Gongo added 9 points, while Milani Smith and Valerie Richardson each chipped in 7 points apiece to help seal the victory.
The Lady Texans shot 41.7% from the field, 20% from three-point range, and 75% from the free-throw line. They dominated the glass with 52 rebounds converted 15 points off turnovers, and tallied an impressive 28 second-chance points.
South Plains held its largest lead of the night - 18 points - with 4:04 remaining in the fourth quarter before holding off a late rally by Central Arizona.
The Lady Texans will wrap up their three-game Arizona road swing on Saturday at 2:00 PM, taking on Mesa Community College.
