Yanessa Cabrera

Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach 


Yanessa Cabrera, a native of Northern Virginia, begins her coaching career at South Plains College following a decorated playing and academic career at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. From 2018–2023, Cabrera was the starting point guard for Randolph, where she earned the program’s Sportsmanship Award in both 2022 and 2023 and became the all-time leader in assists for women’s basketball.

Cabrera graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise with a minor in Media and Culture Studies, and went on to earn her master’s degree in Coaching and Sport Leadership during the 2022–2023 academic year. Alongside her collegiate career, she built valuable coaching experience with AAU programs, serving as an assistant coach for United in Gainesville, Virginia (2020–2021) and continuing with Elevate Elite in Herndon, Virginia (2023–2024).

Passionate about player development and leadership, Cabrera is eager to continue her growth as a coach under the guidance of the South Plains College staff.
