Lady Texans Show Resiliency In Defeat

Levelland— Despite having six players score in double figures, the South Plains College Lady Texans fell to Dallas Diesel 96-84 Saturday at the Texan Dome. Aliezza Brown lead the Lady Texans in scoring for the second straight game, racking up 15 points and five rebounds in the contest. Elizabeth Cera and Mia Copper each finished with 13 points for SPC, while Yanina Inkina scored 12 points and added nine rebounds.

Levelland— Despite having six players score in double figures, the South Plains College Lady Texans fell to Dallas Diesel 96-84 Saturday at the Texan Dome.

Aliezza Brown lead the Lady Texans in scoring for the second straight game, racking up 15 points and five rebounds in the contest. Elizabeth Cera and Mia Copper each finished with 13 points for SPC, while Yanina Inkina scored 12 points and added nine rebounds.
 
Chantoya Hawkins scored 31 points for Dallas Diesel, and Jill Duffey contributed with 24 points and three assists.
 
Despite facing a wide margin heading into halftime, the Lady Texans showed resiliency in the second half, eventually cutting the deficit to just nine points with under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Texans fell just short of a talented Dallas Diesel squad, and head coach Cayla Petree knows all is not lost with a lone defeat.
 
"We came out a little flat and passive today, but much credit to Dallas Diesel and their players," Petree said. "All of of their players played high-level college basketball, and we hate to lose, but they gave us a good look on what we can improve on, and they're a good basketball team. We just have to keep continuing to do what we've been focusing on and keep continuing to get better."
