Lady Texans open season Oct. at Eastern Arizona
LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Lady Texan basketball team will open their season Oct. 31 when they travel to Thatcher, Ariz., to take on host Eastern Arizona College. On Saturday, Nov. 1, the SPC women will square off with Chandler-Gilbert.

The Lady Texans also opened up with the Gila Monsters a year ago, falling 70-64.
South Plains College is looking to improve upon their 16-12 record from a year ago and return to the form that earned a share of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) championship two years ago. To do that, they will have to rely on a roster full of newcomers with nine freshman and three sophomores.
Sophomore transfer Johnesha Major was recently named to the All-WJCAC preseason team.
Major played for Connors State last season where she averaged just under nine points per game in 22 appearances during the 2013-14 season.
Recently picked fourth in the WJCAC Coach's Poll, the Lady Texans will play their first home game Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. against the Dallas Diesel.
South Plains begin league play Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Texan Dome at 1 p.m. versus Western Texas College.
