Lady Texans stop Tyler, 68-59

PLANO, Texas – The South Plains College Lady Texans rebounded from their recent loss to fifth-ranked Hutchinson Community College Friday afternoon, with a 68-59 victory over Tyler College during the first game of the two-day Collin County Thanksgiving Classic.

South Plains (7-1) jumped all over Tyler early, charging out to an 11-point lead by the midway point of the first half. The domination in the first half was short lived as the Lady Apaches (4-5) would tie the game up at 30 with just under two-minutes remaining and the two teams would go on to be knotted up 34-34 as the first half expired.

Though the Lady Texans eventually built up an eight-point lead with six minutes remaining, the second half was closely contested as Tyler narrowed the SPC advantage to only two, 61-59, with 3:20 left on the clock.

Shea Myatt made a timely 3-point basket that began a 7-0 Lady Texan scoring run that would see SPC win the game by nine, 68-59.

Freshman TaSheena Moore scored 14 points to lead the Lady Texans in scoring for the seventh time this season.  Alexius Dawn added 12 points, in addition to five assists and six steals.  Sydney Hearn and Stephanie Moore were also in double-figures with 10 points each.
