Lady Texans fall to WTC in first round of WJCAC pre-conference tournament

HOBBS, N.M. - Sophomore Ashley Roberts scored a game high 14 points while freshman teammate Kayla Turner chipped in with 10, but the Lady Texans again came up short as they were topped by Western Texas College (8-4) 58-56 in the first round of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) tournament, hosted by New Mexico Junior College. South Plains College will face Northern Oklahoma College Friday at 1:30 p.m. (MST).

Roberts and Turner each made 3-of-11 shots from the field, but both were perfect from the charity stripe with Roberts making 7-of-7 and Turner sinking 4-of-4.

Three Lady Texans just missed double digit scoring nights withStephanie Moore scoring nine, while Sydney Hearn and Shea Myatt each added eight.

The loss drops the SPC women to a record of 1-9 on the season with only two games remaining until the squad goes home for the Christmas Holidays.
