Second half rally falls short as Lady Texans drop third straight
After going to halftime trailing by ten points, the Lady Texans saw their opponent extend it to 13 near the midway point of the second half. Shea Myatt then hit two three-point shots during a 9-1 run that brought SPC back to within five points with 6:34 remaining in the game. The Lady Texans were unable to get any closer until it was too late. With under one second remaining and down six, sophomoreAshley Roberts drew a foul and sank both free throws. When Cochise inbounded the ball, the buzzer sounded with the final score 54-50 in favor of the Lady Apaches.
Roberts led all scorers with a game high 20 points. Anton native Stephanie Moore chipped in with 10 and also pulled down five rebounds.
Although she made only 2-of-8 attempts from the floor, Shea Myatt had an all-around game with seven points, five rebounds, and five assists.
South Plains College (1-5) will look to halt their three game losing streak tomorrow evening when they travel to Cisco for a rematch with the Cisco College Lady Wranglers. The Lady Texans defeated Cisco 53-47 at the Texan Dome on November 12.
