Lady Texans begin conference action at Howard

LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Lady Texans will begin conference play Monday, January 10^th when they travel to Big Spring to square off with the Lady Hawks of Howard College in what will be the WJCAC opener for both teams. Tip-off is set for 5:45 p.m.

South Plains (9-4) is coming off a 72-65 overtime loss to Pima College, while Howard (15-3) is on a three game winning streak since their last loss - a 67-64 overtime loss to the Lady Texans on December 4^th on the final day of the WJCAC pre-conference tournament.

The Lady Texans have three players scoring better than 12 points per game, while sophomore Kelsey Canavan averages a double-double for the season with 11.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. As a team, the SPC women average 71 points per game, while holding their opponents to just under 60.

Howard enters with 77 points per game, while holding their opponents to 51 points, though they have played six games against junior varsity opponents.

SPC will host Midland in their conference home opener on Thursday, January 13^th at 5:45 p.m. on McDonald's Night at the Texan Dome.
