South Plains College Cross Country teams wrapped up their season with a strong showing at the 2025 NCAA National Cross Country Championships in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
FORT DODGE, Iowa - The South Plains College Cross Country teams wrapped up their season with a strong showing at the 2025 NCAA National Cross Country Championships in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Leading the men's team was Dennis Cheruiyot, who placed 11th overall with a time of 25:36.1, earning NJCAA All-American honors for his top-15 finish. Cheruiyot's performance capped an exceptional season marked by consistency, determination, and leadership.
Also representing South Plains in the men's race were Abdirisak Saidgurhan (69th, 27:19.5), Grayson Hastings (120th, 28:32.3), Donovan Martinez (173rd, 30:04.0), and Yassine Bounasri (193rd, 31:23.6). Ylies Mihoubi also competed but did not finish. The men's team finished 21st with 543 points.
On the women's side, Alison Guaman, the team's lone female qualifier, delivered a solid performance, finishing 89th overall with a time of 21:07.2.
With the cross country season now concluded, the team will turn its focus to the Indoor Track & Field season, which begins January 16th at the Corky Classic Indoor Track & Field Meet.
