Texans Send Four to Finals at Howard College Rodeo
South Plains College Rodeo continued its strong spring run this past weekend at the Howard College Rodeo, with four athletes advancing to the Short Go and turning in solid finishes against a competitive field.
HOWARD, TX - The Texans and Lady Texans were well represented in the finals on Saturday, as McKenna Hipps (goat tying), Jaxon Stoker (tie-down roping), Sierra Telford (barrel racing), and Caden Harrel (team roping) each earned spots in the Short Go.
Jaxon Stoker led the way for South Plains in tie-down roping, finishing sixth overall after posting a 23.9 run in the finals. McKenna Hipps competed in goat tying and recorded a 10.3 in the Short Go, finishing ninth overall.
In team roping, Caden Harrel delivered a strong performance as the heeler, finishing third with an 8.0 run in the Short Go and a 16.0 average across both rounds.
Sierra Telford added another top finish for the Lady Texans in barrel racing, placing fourth overall after clocking a 16.28 in the finals and a 32.17 average.
South Plains will look to build on this momentum as they head to Canyon, Texas next weekend for the West Texas A&M Rodeo. The Texans and Lady Texans will then return home to host the inaugural Joe Dee Brooks Memorial Rodeo at the Mallet Event Center and Arena in Levelland.
