South Plains College Rodeo Team Closes Fall Season with Strong Showing at Clarendon Rodeo
The South Plains College Rodeo Team wrapped up its fall semester competition with an impressive set of performances at the Clarendon College Rodeo, highlighted by multiple top-finishers across both men’s and women’s events.
LEVELLAND — The South Plains College Rodeo Team wrapped up its fall semester competition with an impressive set of performances at the Clarendon College Rodeo, highlighted by multiple top-finishers across both men's and women's events.
In tiedown roping, freshman Jaxon Stoker secured a 6th-place finish, adding 30 points to the team's total. Stoker also teamed up with Levi Sasser in team roping, where the duo posted a 106.0 in the average to take 3rd. Teammates Kail Brunson and Trey Huwa clocked a 107.4 in the average to finish 6th.
The Lady Texans delivered standout results of their own, led by Zaran Kirkpatrick, who dominated the goat tying with a 6.3 in the short round and a 12.8 on two head to win the average and earn 60 points. Katie Knez added a 5th-place finish in the goat tying average with a 14.2, earning 20 points, and also placed 6th in breakaway roping with a 102.3 in the average. Teammates Tiffanie McCormick and McKenna Hipps rounded out the breakaway leaderboard in 7th and 8th place, respectively.
Knez's consistency across multiple events earned her a 2nd-place finish in the Women's All-Around standings for the weekend.
The Clarendon Rodeo marks the final event of the fall season for South Plains College. The team will return to competition in the spring semester with five remaining rodeos on the schedule, concluding at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland in April.
