LEVELLAND, TX - South Plains College turned in a commanding performance from start to finish, rolling past New Mexico Military Institute 80–54 at the Texan Dome.
The Texans wasted no time setting the tone. After winning the opening tip, Antallah Sandlin'el attacked immediately and got to the free-throw line on the first possession. Though he split the pair, it sparked an early surge fueled by intense defensive pressure. South Plains forced a shot clock violation on NMMI's opening trip and quickly built momentum.
Jaylen Colon ignited the crowd with a corner three to push the lead to 6-0, forcing an early Broncos timeout with 18:22 remaining in the first half. Colon stayed hot, knocking down another three from the same corner moments later. Micah Bell added a three of his own and connected with Alexandre K'Medehouto for a powerful slam as the Texans stretched the lead to double digits.
By the first media timeout, South Plains had built a 20-6 advantage. The Texans continued to control the pace and energy of the game, pushing the margin to 26-11 midway through the half. Zion Pipkin attacked off the bounce for key buckets, and Harouna Coulibaly provided a spark inside, converting second-chance opportunities and free throws.
South Plains carried a commanding 38-20 lead into halftime, shooting efficiently and dominating the glass. The Texans maintained that intensity after the break, answering every Broncos attempt to chip away at the deficit. Colon drilled his third three-pointer of the game in the second half, Yohandry Ortiz added a momentum three, and the Texans continued to protect the rim and control the boards.
The lead swelled to 20-plus midway through the second half, and South Plains never allowed NMMI to mount a serious threat down the stretch.
The Texans were led by Micah Bell with 14 points and four rebounds, while Antallah Sandlin'el added 13 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Jaylen Colon chipped in 12 points, three assists, and two rebounds, and Alexandre K'Medehouto posted 10 points and eight rebounds in a strong inside performance.
As a team, South Plains shot 48% from the field, 43% from three-point range, and 80% from the free-throw line, showcasing one of its most efficient offensive outings of the season.
From the opening tip to the final horn, the Texans controlled the tempo, defended with intensity, and delivered a complete team performance in the 80–54 victory.
