Texans Outlast Lamar on the Road, 88-85
The South Plains College Texans earned a hard-fought road victory on Saturday, Nov. 15th, defeating Lamar Community College 88-85 behind a dominant offensive performance from sophomore guard Zion Pipkin.
LAMAR, CO - The South Plains College Texans earned a hard-fought road victory on Saturday, Nov. 15th, defeating Lamar Community College 88-85 behind a dominant offensive performance from sophomore guard Zion Pipkin.
Pipkin led all scorers with 26 points, adding 5 rebounds and 7 assists while shooting an efficient 10–14 from the field, 3–4 from three, and 3–4 from the free throw line. His all-around play anchored a Texans offense that shot 25 percent better from the field than the Lopes.
The Texans also controlled the glass, out rebounding Lamar 43–24, which proved critical in closing out the tight matchup. Yohandry Ortiz and Deion Ware each contributed 13 points, giving South Plains additional scoring balance in the win.
With the victory, the Texans return home to the Texan Dome for two matchups this week. South Plains will host Dallas College North Lake on Nov. 20, followed by Temple College on Nov. 22.
