South Plains College Texans men's basketball team rolled to an impressive 114-79 road victory over Trinidad State College on Saturday, showcasing a balanced offensive attack and dominant team play on both ends of the floor.
TRINIDAD, CO- The South Plains College Texans men's basketball team rolled to an impressive 114-79 road victory over Trinidad State College on Saturday, showcasing a balanced offensive attack and dominant team play on both ends of the floor.
Leading the charge for the Texans was Micah Bell, who came off the bench to deliver a standout performance with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Zion Pipkin added 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Jaylen Colon contributed 15 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals in an all-around effort.
As a team, South Plains was exceptional shooting the basketball—posting 69.2% from the field, 55.6% from 3-point range, and 77.8% from the free-throw line. The Texans also controlled the glass with a 27–21 rebounding advantage, committed just 6 turnovers, and forced 17 turnovers from Trinidad State. Those takeaways turned into 30 points off turnovers for South Plains, who also scored 15 second-chance points and dominated inside with 54 points in the paint.
The Texans' depth proved to be a major factor, as the bench poured in 67 points on the night. South Plains led by as many as 36 points, their largest margin coming with 23 seconds remaining in the game.
