SPC men's and women's basketball teams to tip off Tuesday at Western Junior College Athletic Conference Tournament in Lubbock

LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's basketball teams are slated to tip off on Tuesday at the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Tournament at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University.

Fans are welcome to attend the games, and the tournament will stream live in its entirety at spctexans.com, with the purchase of a tournament pass being required to watch. The tournament pass, which will be $15, will give viewers access to every game. KLVT Radio Levelland will also air the SPC men's and women's games locally on AM1230. 

The Lady Texans will play as the No. 1 seed after capturing the WJCAC crown, winning seven straight to end league play. Amassing an overall record of 16-3 including a 13-2 mark in conference play, South Plains will tip at 2 p.m. on Tuesday against either Clarendon or Howard, who play at 2 p.m. on Monday.

The Texans also earned a No. 1 seed, capping the regular season with an overall record of 17-1, 12-1 in the WJCAC, a share of the conference title, and a No. 1 national ranking. The Texans will tip at 8 p.m. on Tuesday against either Howard or Clarendon College, who play at 6 p.m. on Monday.  

Should the Lady Texans win on Tuesday, they will advance to the championship game which is slated for 5 p.m. on Wednesday. A win by the Texans will advance them to the men's championship game, which will tip off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The winners of each tournament will move on to the Region V title game, which will be held on Saturday, April 10 in Snyder on the campus of Western Texas College. The women's Region V championship will get underway at 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 3:15 p.m. The winners of the Region V title games will get an automatic berth to the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament.
