No. 1 Texans, No. 3 Lady Texans host Odessa College Monday night at the Texan Dome
LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men’s and women’s basketball teams will return to the hardwood Monday night when they play host to Odessa College at the Texan Dome. The Lady Texans will tip at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action with pregame slated for 5:30 p.m.

The top-ranked Texans are 17-2 on the year and have won five of their last six in WJCAC play, currently atop the conference standings. South Plains dropped their last outing on Thursday, falling to Clarendon 74-72 at the Bulldog Gymnasium. Averaging 83.8 points per game and shooting over 47 percent from the field this season, the Texans will look to bounce back with a top 20 conference win on their home court Monday night.
Odessa will also be looking to get back in the win column come Monday as they fell to New Mexico Junior College 68-66 in the final seconds on Thursday night in Hobbs. The No. 15-ranked Wranglers come into the matchup with a 16-5 record and are 5-2 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. The Wranglers are averaging over 81 points per game and shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor on the year.
The No. 3-ranked Lady Texans will be looking to extend their win streak to 19 games following a win over Clarendon on Thursday night. Sarah Shematsi led the Lady Texans with 12 points, three rebounds and a pair of assists against the Lady Bulldogs, knocking down 5 of 11 shots from the field in 25 minutes of action. Keke Hunter recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds, sinking 3 of 6 attempts from the hardwood and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
The No. 16-ranked Lady Wranglers head into Monday night with a 15-4 mark on the year and are 5-1 in the WJCAC. Averaging over 70 points per game and shooting just over 40 percent from the floor, Odessa pounded Clarendon 68-47 a week ago before dismantling No. 5 New Mexico Junior College 72-50 Thursday night in Hobbs.
Following Monday's games, South Plains will be on the road on Thursday to take on Midland College at the Chaparral Center. The Lady Texans will tip at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30.
