No. 1 Texans, No. 3 Lady Texans travel to Clarendon Thursday for WJCAC matchup at the Bulldog Gymnasium
LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's basketball teams will return to the court Thursday night when they travel to Clarendon College in a WJCAC matchup at the Bulldog Gymnasium. The No. 3-ranked Lady Texans will tip at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action with pregame slated for 5:30 p.m.

The top-ranked Texans have won six straight in WJCAC play including wins over New Mexico Junior College and Western Texas a week ago. Sitting atop the conference with a 6-0 mark and a 17-1 record on the year, sophomore Gaige Prim led the Texans in their previous two outings, totaling 41 points and 20 rebounds in his last two games.
The Bulldogs will be looking for the upset on Thursday night after dropping two of their last three games including a 67-63 loss at Odessa on Monday. Clarendon heads into the contest with a record of 4-2 in the WJCAC and is 13-7 on the year, averaging 77.5 points per game and shooting 43.1 percent from the floor on the year.
The No. 3-ranked Lady Texans will be looking to extend their win streak to 18 games following a pair of conference wins a week ago. South Plains ousted then-No. 3 New Mexico Junior College 66-51 on Monday before defeating Western Texas College 101-45 on Thursday in Snyder. Currently 20-1 on the year and 5-0 in the WJCAC, the Lady Texans are averaging 84.3 points per game and are shooting over 50 percent from the floor this season.
Clarendon brings a 7-14 record into Thursday night and is in search of their first win in conference play, as they are 0-5 in league play and have lost five of their last six games. Averaging just 66.7 points per game and shooting 38 percent from the floor on the year, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Odessa 68-47 in their last outing on Monday in Clarendon.
Following Thursday's games, South Plains will return home on Monday when they host Odessa College at the Texan Dome. The Lady Texans will tip at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30.
