Curtis began his collegiate rodeo career at Howard College where he competed for the Hawks from 2007-2009 before transferring to Tarleton State University where he completed an undergraduate degree in Business Administration.

In 2008, Curtis and teammate Calvin Brevik qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo., finishing sixth overall.  Curtis again qualified for the prestigious collegiate rodeo final in 2010 with Tarleton.

Professionally, Curtis has made multiple trips to the Wilderness Circuit finals held in Ogden, Utah, competing in the team roping and calf roping events.

Curtis is engaged to Kelli Lohse who is a former member of the Lady Texan rodeo team where she competed in the goat tying and breakaway roping events.
