LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan basketball teams return to the hardwood today, hosting College at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Texan Dome. McDonald's of Levelland is the game sponsor and has donated a ticket to every student in Hockley County as well as the t-shirts that will be thrown by the cheerleaders throughout the game.
Neither team has had much rest as the SPC men and women as well as the Howard men and women played on Thursday night.
For the eleventh-ranked Texans (13-2, 2-0), it will be their third conference game since opening league play Monday in Roswell. South Plains defeated the Broncos 73-48 before taking down the Midland College Chaps 73-54 Thursday night at the Texan Dome.
The Lady Texans (14-2, 1-0), who have recently broken into the NJCAA polls with a No. 20 ranking, overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to squeak by Midland 64-60 Thursday, defeating the Lady Chaps for the first time since Feb. 2009 to snap a six-game losing streak to their conference rival.
