SPC Cross Country Chasing Gold At Nationals

The South Plains College men's and women's cross country teams will be chasing another national championship this weekend as they travel to Ames, Iowa for the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships.

Following a first place finish at the Region Championships on October 31 in Roswell, New Mexico, the men's team will be led by Hassan Abdi and Kelvin Keter, who finished first and second at the Region Championships with a combined time of 24:41 in the 8K run.

The Lady Texans took third in New Mexico with Sasha-Gaye Whyte finishing fifth overall with a final time of 19:17, and Kassidi placing 11th with a time of 20:14 in the 5K run.

SPC head coach Chris Beene will be looking to capture is 31st national championship when South Plains travels to Iowa on November 14.
