LEVELLAND — The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan rodeo teams will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Texas Tech University Rodeo at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center.
In their previous outing in Perryton at the Frank Phillips College Rodeo, South Plains earned a pair of top 10 finishes as the Lady Texans finished fourth overall with 180 team points, while the Texans placed 10th with 110 team points.

The Lady Texans enter the weekend ranked first in the Southwest Region with 385 points, led by sophomore barrel racer Alex Odle who currently sits atop of the regional standings with 305 points after two weeks.
VERNON—The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams returned to action this weekend at the Vernon College Rodeo where they qualified seven athletes for Saturday's final round.
A week after claiming the women's all-around team title at the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo in Portales, the Lady Texans earned a second place finish on Saturday with 130 team points.
LEVELLAND—The South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams will be back on the road this weekend as they travel to Vernon, TX for the Vernon College Rodeo beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28.
The Lady Texans will look for a repeat performance after winning the women’s all-around team title last weekend in Portales at the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo with 255 points, 60 points ahead of second-place finisher Tarleton State University.
PORTALES, NM—South Plains College placed four athletes in the final round of the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo on Saturday as the Lady Texans claimed their first overall team win on the year.
The Lady Texans capped off the weekend with 255 total points, nearly 60 points ahead of second place finisher Tarleton State University. Eastern New Mexico, Western Texas and Weatherford College rounded out the top five.
LEVELLAND—Following a season in which the South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams were each represented at the College National Finals Rodeo, the Texans and Lady Texans will kick off their 2017 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Portales at the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo.
The Lady Texans begin the year as the two-time defending Western Junior College Athletic Conference champions. South Plains will return a trio of sophomores in Jenna Dallyn, Alex Odle, and Avery Gonzales. Dallyn finished the year ranked eighth in the Southwest Region as a freshman in the goat tying event. Odle concluded her freshman year as one of the top barrel racers in the region, ending the season ranked 11th in the final regional standings. Gonzales, a sophomore from Peralta, New Mexico ended the year ranked 15th in the region in the breakaway roping event.
