South Plains College welcomes Cayla Petree as the new head coach for the Lady Texan basketball team. Petree joined the team on April 9, 2015, and hit the ground running.

 

Petree came to South Plains from Angelo State University; where she led the Belles to the LSC Tournament Championship in her first year. However, having played and coached at a junior college level before, Petree felt like South Plains was a good fit, and believes in the potential South Plains College has to compete at a national level.

ODESSA - South Plains College Lady Texans will finish their season with a 9-19 season record, and a 5-9 in conference after their loss to Odessa College, Thursday night, pushing the Lady Texans out of a chance to play in the Region V Tournament in Brownwood, March 4-7.

 

Starting with a nine point lead early in the game the Lady Texans pushed the ball down the court, taking control of the game, resulting in South Plains leading by two points heading into half-time.

LEVELLAND – South Plains College Lady Texans fell to the Midland College Lady Chaparrals with a score of 71-58, Tuesday night, Feb. 24. Shooting in the double digits, Courtney Randle and Paris Townsend led the Lady Texans in scoring.

 

Randle had a season best in the loss against Midland with her 27 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 43.5 percent from the field, and teammate Townsend made 11 points for South Plains.

BORGER, TX –The Lady Texans fell to Frank Phillips College 74-59, positioning the Lady Plainsmen to take the fourth seed in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.

 

The top four teams in the WJCAC qualify for the Region V Tournament Mar. 4-7 in Brownwood, Texas.
