
LUBBOCK, Texas - The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan track and field squads continued competed in their second meet this weekend at Texas Tech and finished the day with two school records, eight first place and six runner-up finishes to continue success in the 2010 season.
LUBBOCK, Texas - The South Plains College track and field teams continued their season today with day two of the Texas Tech Invitational and capped off a great first meet by adding three more school records, taking three event championships and breaking the National Junior College Athletic Association indoor 4x400 relay record in the final running event of the meet.
LUBBOCK, Texas - The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan track and field team began the season with a bang with three first place finishes and five new school records on the first day of the Texas Tech Indoor Invitational.
Freshman long jumper Erynn Young could not have asked for a better way to begin her Lady Texan career as she broke Dominique Jacob's 2007 school record in the event. Young's leap of 19-08.25 was good for second place in the meet and bested Jacob's school record by 1 ¼ inches.
Kelly Closse, who won four NJCAA championships in 2009, won the weight throw and blasted her own school record by nearly 3 ½ feet when she chunked the implement 60-05.75.
