LEVELLAND, Texas - The No. 1 ranked South Plains College Texan basketball team is set to host back-to-back conference games in the same week for the first time this season when they play host to the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos on Monday, February 6, and then follow that up with a Homecoming celebration as they square off with Midland on Thursday, February 9. The undefeated Texans have plenty of activities planned for those wishing to come out and watch top-notch basketball.

The South Plains College track and field teams will compete at Texas Tech for the third and final time of the 2012 indoor season when they begin competition on the Red Raider Open February 4, where field events begin at 10 a.m. A handful of SPC athletes will run in the 55-meter dash for the first time at approximately 11:45 p.m.

SNYDER - Stanton Kidd scored a game high 21 points and three other Texans added double-digits to help lead the South Plains College Texans to an 83-62 victory over the Western Texas College Westerners Thursday night at the WTC Coliseum. The victory improves the NJCAA No. 1 ranked Texans record to 21-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play, and gives them a two game lead over Odessa, Midland, and Howard. The Westerners drop to 13-9 and 1-5 league play.

SNYDER - The South Plains College Lady Texan basketball team allowed Western Texas College to make less than 20-percent of their field goal attempts and only allowed the Lady Westerners to make two in the entire second half as they won back-to-back games for the first time this season and evened up their record at 3-3 in conference play with their 51-31 victory Thursday night at the WTC Coliseum.

LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texan basketball team's undefeated record has helped them to receive 14-of-16 first place votes and the No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA basketball polls released Tuesday afternoon.

South Plains (18-0, 3-0 WJCAC) began the season with a No. 18 national ranking in the pre-season poll, but quickly sped up to No. 7 in the November 15 poll after knocking off ranked opponents Trinity Valley and Lamar State-Port Arthur in the second weekend of the season.

BORGER, Texas - Led by four players scoring in double-digits and shooting nearly 58-percent for the game as a team, the South Plains College Texans moved to 18-0 overall on the season and 3-0 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) play with a 101-78 thumping of the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen Monday night in Borger.

South Plains led by as many as 29 points in the first half before settling for a 49-29 lead heading to the locker room. The Texans again jumped all over their opponent in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 33 and never trailed in the game.

BORGER, Texas - Free throw shooting was the key in the South Plains College Lady Texans picking up their first conference victory Monday night as they were on target for their first 18 attempts and finished 25-of-29 to finish off the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen 71-54 in a game that was a bit closer than the final might indicate.

After taking a 31-20 advantage to the locker room, the Lady Texans extended their lead to 15 in the opening minutes in what looked like might be a one-sided rout. Minutes later South Plains saw their lead dwindle to two points after Frank Phillips went on a 15-2 run.
