LEVELLAND — Playing on their home court for the first time this season, the South Plains College men's basketball team will host Monroe College and Dallas Colege-North Lake as part of the SPC Classic Nov. 19-20 at the Texan Dome.
The Texans, who are looking to get back in the win column after dropping two games a week ago in Plano, will square off with Monroe College at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, before a 1 p.m. matchup with Dallas College-North Lake on Saturday. Both games will stream live at spctexans.com and admission to the tournament is free.
South Plains comes in with a record of 1-3, falling to Lamar State College-Port Arthur 84-78 in their last outing on Nov. 13. Despite the loss, the Texans showed grit on the offensive end, shooting 45.6 percent from the floor and knocked down 10 3s against the Seahawks.
Jaylin Reed led SPC with the rock, recording a season-high 25 points and four boards, connecting on 10 of 16 shots from the field, and was 5 of 9 from distance. Eric Coleman Jr. provided 22 points off the bench, dropping in 6 of 10 attempts, and was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.
The Texans enter the weekend stint averaging 67 points per game, shooting 40 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent from 3. SPC will look to pick up a pair of wins at home before hitting the road for a two-game road stint at the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic. The Texans will tip-off against Collin College at 7 p.m. on Nov. 26, and will take on Hill College at 3 p.m. on Nov. 27. Both games will stream live at spctexans.com.
