#2 Texans travel to Plano for East-West Challenge Nov. 12-13

LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's basketball team will be on the road for the second time this season when they travel to Plano for the East-West Challenge on the campus of Collin County Community College Nov. 12-13. 

The second-ranked Texans will square off with Panola College on Friday at noon, followed by a 10 a.m. matchup with Lamar State College-Port Arthur on Saturday. Both games will stream live at spctexans.com.

The Texans split their first two games of the season a week ago in Oklahoma, taking down Northern Oklahoma College-Enid 68-65 in the season opener, but fell to Murray State College 81-76 on Nov. 8.

Malik Zachery scored in double figures in both contests and leads South Plains in scoring with 16.5 points per game. Freshman big man Khalifa Sakho is second on the team in scoring with 11 points per game, netting 17 points, and was 8 of 12 from the floor against Murray State.

Following the weekend, South Plains will play on their home court for the first time when they host Monroe College at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, followed by a 1 p.m. contest against Dallas College-North Lake on Nov. 20 at the Dome.
