LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams are set to return to the arena March 25-27 at the Ranger College Rodeo in Sweetwater at the Nolan County Coliseum.
The Lady Texans enter the weekend third in the Southwest Region with 995 points, with Texas Tech and Weatherford College tied for first with 1,075 points. The Texans are currently ninth in the region in the men's team standings with 518 points, with Clarendon College currently leading the men's team standings.
South Plains sits near the top of the region in six events, including Emery Mask who is second in the region standings in barrel racing with 455 points. Madison Rice is second in breakway roping with 195 points, while Samantha Taylor is ninth in goat tying with 160 points. Rice is also 12th in goat tying with 130 points, while Meghan McGinley is 13th in the region with 115 points.
On the men's side, the Texans' Colt Honey is sixth in the region in steer wrestling with 175 points, while Titan Quigg is fifth in the region in tiedown roping with 195 points. Kaden Prince heads to Sweetwater currently fifth in the region in team roping heeler with 185 points, while Daryan Dominguez is eighth with 160 points.
Following the weekend, South Plains will travel to Big Spring for the Howard College Rodeo April 8-10, followed by a trip to Snyder for the Western Texas College Rodeo April 15-17, before closing out the year with a trip to Stephenville for the Tarleton State University Rodeo April 22-24.
