LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams wrapped up their sixth rodeo of the year Saturday at the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo at the Mallet Event Center.
South Plains will be back in the arena March 25-27 at the Ranger College Rodeo, followed by a trip to Big Spring for the Howard College Rodeo April 8-10. The Lady Texans currently sit second in the Southwest Region with 995 points, just 80 points back of Texas Tech who leads the region with 1,075 points.
The Texans' Tee McLeod wrestled his way to a fifth place finish in Saturday night's steer wrestling finals, running a 5.4 in the long round and a 5.3 in the short round to finish with a 10.7 average and 55 points for the Texans. Meghan McGinley qualified for the finals in goat tying, turning in a time of 8.4 in the long round and a 9.9 in the finals, finishing sixth overall with a 16.20 average and 35 individual points.
