LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams will be back on the saddle Feb. 25-27 at the Odessa College Rodeo at the Ector County Coliseum.
Action will get underway at 7 p.m. on Thursday, with the final short round slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday. The full draw and schedule can be found below. Following the rodeo, South Plains will return to action March 18-20 at the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo, which will be held at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland.
The Lady Texans enter the second half of the season leading the Southwest Region with 935 points, with Texas Tech currently second with 675 points to date. In their last outing at the Texas Tech Rodeo in November, the Lady Texans won the women's team title in Lubbock as Samantha Taylor won the women's all-around title. The Texans head into the weekend currently ninth in the region with 398 points as Clarendon and Sul Ross hold on to the top two spots.
South Plains' Madison Rice is first in the region in breakaway roping with 195 points, holding a 15 point advantage over Weatherford's Kinlie Brennise. Samantha Taylor enters the weekend sixth in goat tying with 160 points, while Rice is eighth in goat tying with 130 points. Emery Mask is currently second in the region in barrel racing, tallying 395 points to date.
On the men's side, Daryan Dominguez is fourth in the region in team roping (heeler) with 160 points, while Kaden Prince is seventh with 120 points. Colt Honey enters the weekend tied for second in the region in steer wrestling with 175 points on the year. Titan Quigg is just five points shy of the region lead in tiedown roping, currently third in the region with 195 points.
