Judy Bryant has been a familiar face to students in the physical education department at SPC for more than 35 years. She has taught PE classes at South Plains College since 1968 and is currently chairperson of the physical education department.

Bryant was also the first head coach of the women's basketball team at SPC. The Texanettes, as they were called in 1974 when the program was started, went 5-9 that first year. That team had no scholarship players. Posters were placed around campus inviting interested women to attend tryouts.

She has also served as cheerleader sponsor, club sponsor, assistant director of student activities, and the coordinator of women's physical education.

Bryant graduated from Odessa Permian High School and has a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Sul Ross State University. She also has a Master's degree in Physical Education from Texas Tech University.
