Coaches Letter


Coach:

We are excited that you have chosen to compete in the 2010 SPC Invitational. Enclosed you will find the schedule of events and other important meet information. The running events will begin at 2:00 pm with finals in the 4 x 800m. The remainder of the running events will begin at 4:00 pm with the 4x100 relay (w/m) and will follow the time schedule as closely as possible after that. The field events will begin at 12:00 pm with the javelin (m/w combined) and hammer throws (m/w combined) and will continue as scheduled.

All entries for the meet must be E-MAILED to Blaine Wiley at the SPC track office by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 4. You may begin the entry process immediately.

PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING FORMAT TO ENSURE ACCURACY.

-In the subject line:

-Name of the meet and for which team (ex. API/SPC Open Entries for X University or College)

-In the body of the E-mail list the following at the top of the page:

-Full name and title of the person making the entries

-School name

-Home number, office number, and cell number (all would be best for last minute
questions)

-E-mail address

-Entries:

-Athlete's Name, Events, and seed time (seed time is required - be honest and accurate)

Please categorize all entries by gender and division. This means to place all of your Men's entries grouped together, Women's entries grouped together, and your unattached entries grouped together. Entries that are received mixed by gender/division will not be accepted.

API/SPC Open

Meet Information

Date: Saturday, May 7, 2011

Site: SPC Track Stadium, South Plains College

1401 College Avenue, Levelland, TX 79336

Schedule: See Attached

Facility: The SPC Stadium has an 8-lane, EuroTan surface. Discus, Shot Put and Javelin throwing areas are located on the infield with a separate hammer throwing arena on the East side of the stadium. All runways are also EuroTan.

Entry Procedure: All entries should be completed by email and sent to the SPC track office no later than 5 pm on Wednesday, May 4. There will be no changes or additions after this point. Only scratches will be allowed. Please verify your entries. ENTRIES ONLY ACCEPTED BY E-MAIL!

Scratches: Scratches may be emailed or called into the SPC track office no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, May 5. You may email scratches to Coach Wiley at bwiley@southplainscollege.edu. Please make all scratches by the due date.

Entry Fee: The entry fee is $60 per team ($100 combined program). Entry fees may be paid in advance or when you arrive on Saturday. Checks should be made payable to "South Plains College."

Meet Format: All running events will be run as finals with heats against times, seeded fast to slow. Field events will advance the top nine to the final.

Scoring: This meet will only be scored for NJCAA Region V teams.

Awards: None

Rules:NJCAA Track and Field Rules and USATF Certified Officials will govern the meet.

Participant Entry: All Team personnel (athletes, coaches, managers, trainers) should enter through Gate #1 located at the southwest entrance to the stadium. The southeast side entrance is for officials and meet personnel only. Bus/Team parking will be in the South stadium parking lots.

Spectator Entry: Spectators should enter through the southwest entrance to SPC Stadium. Admission is free.

Team Camps: No teams will be allowed to set up camp in the infield. All camps must be in the east or west stands or in the grassy areas at each end of the stadium. No radios, boom boxes or other noisemakers will be permitted. Please refrain from chewing gum or sunflower seeds on the infield. Any athlete seen spitting gum or sunflower seeds on the infield will be disqualified from the meet.

Warm-Up Area: General warm-up can be done outside the stadium on the grass fields near the lake or on the stadium infield. Only athletes warming up for their event should be on the infield.

Trainers/Staff: SPC athletic trainers will be on site in case of emergency. School trainers may set up anywhere in the stadium, but the training room at the West end of the stadium will be available.

Check-In: The clerk of the course will be set up in the metal storage building located at the Northeast end of the stadium, adjacent to starting line to the track. Athletes must check in at least 20 minutes before their event to receive their hip numbers and be escorted to the line.

Heat Sheets & Results: Heat sheets will be in each team's packet, which will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the registration desk located in the Press Box at the southeast end of the stadium. Heat sheets will also be posted on the boards at the southwest end of the stadium. Results will also be posted on the boards at the southwest end of the stadium as soon as possible after each event is final. Final results will be available 15-20 minutes after the final event is completed. They will also be available on the SPC athletics website at: http://www.southplainscollege.edu/athletics/

Protests: All protests and questions should be directed to Coach Beene and/or the meet referee.

Implements: Implements will be certified in the SPC team room located at the west end of the stadium beginning at 9:00am. Implements will be impounded and taken to the ring by meet officials. All implements must be checked in at least one hour before the start of the event.
