ODESSA, Texas - Carley Richardson earned 193.33 points in breakaway roping and barrel racing and Brittany Bell added 40 more in the goat tying competition to lead the Lady Texans to a second place finish with 233.33 points at the Odessa College rodeo held March 25-27.

Unfortunately, SPC has now relinquished their lead in the Southwest region to Tarleton State University who won the rodeo with 330 points.

Richardson's big points in breakaway roping did not come easily as she finished in a three-way tie for sixth place after completing the long round in 2.70 seconds to earn 3.33 points. Her short round time of 3.10 seconds was second fastest as was her combined time of 5.80 seconds.

Bell earned her points in the long round of the goat tying competition when she finished with a time of 7.70 seconds, good for third place. She struggled in round two where she finished in 14.00 seconds finishing eighth overall.

The SPC rodeo teams return to action April 1-3 when they travel to Snyder for the Western Texas College rodeo.
