South Plains College is hosting the Odessa College Wranglers and Lady Wranglers on Monday, February 15 on Think Pink Night presented by Covenant Hospital of Levelland. The women tip-off at 5:45 p.m. while the men's action is set to begin at 7:45 p.m.
The Think Pink goal is to promote breast cancer awareness.
"The importance of getting annual mammograms is essential in the fight against breast cancer," says Kathy McDonald of Levelland's Covenant Hospital. "Every woman should be able to get a screening mammogram once a year if her physician deems it necessary regardless of financial situation. Covenant Hospital Levelland is committed to helping women from Hockley County obtain screening mammograms and raise awareness about breast health."
Covenant Hospital of Levelland is raffling off a Sony Blu-ray player to raise money to fund mammograms for women in the Levelland area. Tickets for the raffle are $2 each or fans can purchase three tickets for $5.
The Lady Texans defeated Odessa (20-5, 4-4) 54-53 when the two teams faced each other on January 21. A victory would give SPC a secure lead for the number two seed heading into the Region 5 tournament, held March 4-7 at Lubbock Christian University.
The Texans (15-9, 5-5) are out for vengeance as they were defeated soundly by the Wranglers (20-6, 5-5), 84-64, on January 21. The two teams are tied for third place in the WJCAC standings and a victory will give the winning team the edge in securing a spot in the Region 5 tournament next month.
At halftime of each game the Levelland Acrospirit Tumblers will be performing and the First Baptist Church choir will sing the National Anthem.
