The South Plains College Texans and Lady Texans are scheduled to host Western Texas College tonight at the Texan Dome. The Lady Texan game begins at 5:45 p.m. while the men tip-off at 7:45 p.m.
The Lady Texans are 10-7 overall and 1-1 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC), while the Lady Westerners are 10-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play after falling to Odessa 53-50 and Frank Phillips 63-56 last week.
The SPC women will look to slow down Teisha King, who is averaging 17 points per game for the season while making 40-percent of her shots from the field.
Sophomore Sajoyia Griffin enters the contest after coming off a season high of 19 points in Thursdays loss against Midland College. For the season Griffin leads the Lady Texans with an average of 12.4 points per game. Freshman Kelsey Canavan has averaged just under 10 points per game and also pulls down 8.6 rebounds.
The Texans, who are 10-6 overall for the season, look to record their first WJCAC win of the season tonight against the Westerners who are also looking for their first conference win. The WTC men are 10-5 for the season and fell last week to Odessa, 75-63, and Frank Phillips 82-75. WTC is led by Will Harrison who averages 16 points per game.
As a team the Texans are averaging 72.5 points per game and are holding opposing offenses to only 55 points per contest.
Holiday Inn Express of Levelland is sponsoring tonights game and have donated a portable dvd player and a 22-inch vizio flat screen television. There will be a drawing at each halftime for one of the items.
