LEVELLAND, Texas - The Lady Texans of South Plains College remain undefeated at home for the 2009-10 season and improve their record to 10-6 overall and 1-0 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference after defeating the Howard College Lady Hawks 51-44 Monday at the Texan Dome.

Trailing by no more than three points for most of the first half, SPC allowed the Lady Hawks to extend their lead to six points, 18-12 with just under eight minutes to go. At that point, the Lady Texans went on a 12-0 scoring run over the next seven minutes to take a six point lead of their own at 24-18. A three point shot by Howard's Tasha Tubbs with four seconds to go sent the teams to the locker room with SPC leading 24-21.

After trailing the majority of the first half, the Lady Texans never trailed in half number two and only allowed Howard to tie the game twice, the final time coming with 9-minutes and 18-seconds left in the game. SPC then went on a 13-3 scoring spree to take the largest lead of the game, 49-39 with three minutes left on the clock and held on for a 51-44 victory.
