WACO, Texas - Sajoyia Griffin, who had scored 33 points in the last two days versus Temple and Hill College, added 17 more versus the Lady Highlanders of McLennan Community College, but it was not quite enough as the Lady Texans dropped to 8-3 overall with the 55-53 loss in Waco.
Griffin mad five-of-11 shots from the field and was perfect from the free throw line while playing 31 minutes in the game.
Freshman Lorie Romaine was the only other Lady Texan in double digits for the night, scoring 12 points and also playing nearly 32 minutes of the contest.
SPC kept the game close despite shooting only 19-of-58 from the field, including 7-of-27 shots from three point land. The Lady Texans and McLennan were even in virtually every statistical category, such as rebounding (37 each) and steals (7). McLennan had an edge over SPC in blocked shots with four, while the Lady Texans had none.
South Plains College has no more games scheduled for the 2009 calendar year and will resume competition on New Years Day when they square off with South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.
