LEVELLAND - The Lady Texans of South Plains College are now 2-0 on the young season after defeating the Lady Leopards of Temple College 67-49 Thursday night at the Texan Dome.

The first half was not pretty for either team; with SPC and Temple each committing 10 turnovers and combining for 18 fouls, but SPC did take a 23-21 lead to the locker room.

The Lady Texans jumped all over Temple in the first five minutes of the second half with a 14-6 run and they did not let up, leading by as many as 22 points before the game ended with the 67-49 score. SPC shot 50-percent from the field in the second half.

SPC had four Lady Texans in double figures, led by freshman guard Lorie Romaine with 15 points and five assists. Post player Kelsey Canavan dominated the paint with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jasmine Taylor added 12 points. Sophomore guard Sajoyia Griffin had 10 points and five assists.

Also for the Lady Texans, ToiEasha Cooper scored six points, while Ashlyn Green and Christen McLee added five points each.

The SPC Breakfast Rotary Classic will continue tomorrow at 3 p.m. when Temple College takes on Northern Oklahoma, and will conclude on Saturday when the Lady Texans try to improve to 3-0 versus Northern Oklahoma.
