LUBBOCK, Texas - The South Plains College Lady Texan rodeo team had another successful weekend, finishing third at Texas Tech to close out their fall season behind strong performances from Haley Nelson, Carley Richardson, and Brittany Bell.

The Lady Texans put two cowgirls in the final of the barrel racing competition, with Richardson going in with the second fastest time of 16.39 seconds and Nelson with the sixth fastest time of 16.54 seconds. Nelson blazed through the final round in a time of 16.21 seconds, giving her a combined time of 32.75 seconds and a second place overall finish. Nelson and Richardson combined for 170 points in the event.

In breakaway roping, Brittany Bell trailed only Texas Tech's Erica Creswell entering the final round after a speedy first round time of 2.2 seconds. Bell could not finish quite as quickly in round two where she posted a time of 4.8 seconds, ultimately finishing sixth overall. She did add 70 points to the Lady Texan team score.

Bell also competed in the final round of goat tying where she finished just out of the points with first and second round times of 9.2 and 12.8 seconds, respectively.

After riding ‘Fireman' to a first round score of 76 points in round one of bull riding, SPC's Ben McPherson was unable to record a score in round two and finished out of the point standings.
